A sweet, caffeinated drink for a holiday morning! Use whatever booze you like, or have on hand. Part of my December Times Union story. Read it over here.
Boozy Chocolate Coffee
Servings
10
cupsIngredients
6 cups strong brewed coffee (caffeinated or decaf)
½ cup brown sugar
½ cup cocoa powder
2 cups whole milk
2 cups liquor (see note)
Directions
- Combine the milk, sugar and cocoa powder in a saucepan set over medium low heat. Cook, stirring, until steamy hot and the sugar is melted. Pour the hot coffee into a large bowl and stir in the milk mixture and the booze. Allow to cool a bit, then use a funnel to pour into jars. Allow to come to room temperature, then refrigerate. Shake before serving. Good hot or iced. Keeps refrigerated for one month.
- Note: I used bourbon, and that made especially boozy coffee. You can use coffee or hazelnut liquor, Irish cream liquor, rum or spiced rum. Or anything boozy at all!
